Furthermore, 95% of young people want brands to actively court them (AllTwitter), so if you combine these two statistics it is clear that young people are massively receptive to well formulated Social Media. With the spending power of young people only set to increase, it is vital to use your Social Media channels to attract and engage them to generate leads with social media marketing.

Be Strategic

Not only do the Social Media platforms you use to promote various content matter, the times you of day you choose to post do too. For example, the best time to post on Facebook is either early in the morning or mid-afternoon, while for Twitter the most effective time is Weekend afternoons (prdaily). Posting at these times will give you the greatest reach, effectively maximizing the amount of people who will see your content.

Likewise, it pays to be strategic when posting updates to your blog. Statistics show that the most effective times to post are Monday, Friday and Saturday at 11am. As your blog is possibly the most vital cog of your inbound strategy, timing it to perfection is imperative. At the end of the day, the more people who read your blog, the more will be drawn in by your call to action, resulting in optimum lead generation.

Steer Clear Of Sales Pitches

A trap that so many companies fall into is treating their Social Media feeds like a sales outlet, rather than an opportunity for engagement. While occasionally posting details of an offer or notifying followers of a new product or development is probably a good idea, pestering your followers with constant sales pitches is certainly not the way to generate leads with social media marketing.

Instead, think of everything you post as a gentle nudge in the right direction. Nurturing potential leads is a great way of driving conversion, but nurture takes time.
