4 Ways To Generate Leads With Social Media Marketing

generate-leads-with-social-media-marketingSocial Media is booming, and knowing just how to generate leads with Social Media Marketing is a great recipe for success. With Facebook now boasting 1.2 billion users worldwide and a quarter of all users checking their account at least 5 times a day (Digital Buzz Blog), it is the premier social media platform.

Meanwhile, companies that use Twitter for Business-to-Business marketing generate twice as many leads as those who don’t.

It is clear, therefore, that Social Media marketing is a great tool for generating leads, and here is how it’s done in 4 easy steps:

Build Up A Rapport

Building up a friendly rapport with your audience is fundamental for the success of any Social Media account. By consistently engaging and interacting with people over your Social Media channels, you will build up a degree of trust that can be crucial when it comes to lead generation. Additionally, a company’s behavior on Social Media has a great bearing on its customer reputation – a company that is open and friendly online will be more highly thought of than one that never interacts with its followers.

As social media is open and friendly, generate leads with social media marketing by delighting existing customers. For example, if a customer has a query about a product you have sold to them and decides to air this over Social Media, responding in a friendly and honest fashion is will boost their trust in your organization, while also making you look good to outsiders.

Know Your Demographics

Believe it or not, different demographics tend to use different Social Media tools. For example, only 1 in 10 LinkedIn users is under 30 and the vast majority are business professionals, so tailor the content you post to it accordingly. Similarly, don’t forget about Twitter if your product is aimed at the older generation. The number of Twitter users aged 45-54 has risen 79% since 2012 (Buferrapp), so bear that in mind if you’re thinking of shunning it in favour of more ‘serious’ Social Media platforms.

This being said, young people are still the most active on Social Media, with 89% of internet users aged between 18 and 29 having at least one account (WordPress). Furthermore, 95% of young people want brands to actively court them (AllTwitter), so if you combine these two statistics it is clear that young people are massively receptive to well formulated Social Media. With the spending power of young people only set to increase, it is vital to use your Social Media channels to attract and engage them to generate leads with social media marketing.

Be Strategic

Not only do the Social Media platforms you use to promote various content matter, the times you of day you choose to post do too. For example, the best time to post on Facebook is either early in the morning or mid-afternoon, while for Twitter the most effective time is Weekend afternoons (prdaily). Posting at these times will give you the greatest reach, effectively maximizing the amount of people who will see your content.

Likewise, it pays to be strategic when posting updates to your blog. Statistics show that the most effective times to post are Monday, Friday and Saturday at 11am. As your blog is possibly the most vital cog of your inbound strategy, timing it to perfection is imperative. At the end of the day, the more people who read your blog, the more will be drawn in by your call to action, resulting in optimum lead generation.

Steer Clear Of Sales Pitches

A trap that so many companies fall into is treating their Social Media feeds like a sales outlet, rather than an opportunity for engagement. While occasionally posting details of an offer or notifying followers of a new product or development is probably a good idea, pestering your followers with constant sales pitches is certainly not the way to generate leads with social media marketing.

Instead, think of everything you post as a gentle nudge in the right direction. Nurturing potential leads is a great way of driving conversion, but nurture takes time. Use Social Media as a platform for communication, not self-promotion, and slowly but surely you will the leads starting to flood in.
